Bayville and Milll Neck residents commute will get a little longer today. The Bayville Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic on Valentine’s day at 7am for repairs. The closure was originally anticipated for February 16th, the village then sent notice that it would be Feb 8th but announced on the 13th that it will be closing the next day, the 14th due to some delays. The bridge is scheduled to re-open in 30 days.
The bridge has been closed to maritime traffic since the beginning of January and will not reopen until April 8th.
LKB, the engineers behind the bridge rehabilitation and selected by the Nassau County Department of Public Works to provide design and construction support services said that most of the structural and site work has been completed and the mechanical and electrical equipment installation is expected to be done this year with the bridge to be fully operational before summer.
